The adoption of Green IT is the new buzz word. But is it really high on the agenda of organisations or is just a lip service?
The benefits of Green IT are obvious: cost savings. environmental, legal compliance and good PR. Yet many organisations seem to be dragging their feet when it comes to green IT adoption. With rising energy prices and increasing regulations, it only makes sense for quick adoption of green IT .
Since 2010, the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme requires organisations to measure and report on their carbon emissions. Starting in 2012, businesses not meeting the CRC requirements, will have to buy carbon allowances from the government to offset their emissions from the previous year. Businesses that reduce energy consumption will not only cut the energy bills but will also reduce their cost of buying required CRC allowances.
Green IT was a cool thing to have, now it is a must. So are you Green yet?
Thanks for reading.
