The world is evolving at light speed so are the threats we face.The ability to screen someone via different variables such as time, location and type of the device used helps reduce risks. There are 5 Ws that help define the context security:
- Who are you? Your identity determines your access.
- Where are you connected from? Are inside the network? from home? Or connected from a remote IP address in China!
- When are you connected? Determines when you lock the doors to your network.
- What are you requesting? Logging into Facebook or company’s sensitive financial data?
By controlling these variables in your environment you can determine if access is granted/denied or limited to the user. These will not replace traditional security methods such as firewalls, web security and endpoint protection but will augment them. The benefits are adding intelligence to traditional security and substantially mitigating threats.
